Royal Crescent: Georgian House Museum General Visit Audio

Explore beautifully furnished period rooms, uncover stories of Georgian society and servants, and experience the house brought to life through immersive film and sound.
Step into Georgian Bath at No. 1 Royal Crescent, a beautifully restored historic townhouse overlooking one of the city’s most famous architectural landmarks.

Your museum visit takes you inside the first house built on the Royal Crescent, where the rooms have been furnished and decorated to recreate the atmosphere of a fashionable Georgian home between 1776 and 1796. Explore elegant interiors filled with historic furniture, paintings and objects while discovering how wealthy residents of Bath lived during this fascinating period.

As you move through the house, immersive film and sound help bring the rooms to life. Rather than simply viewing historic objects behind glass, you can experience the atmosphere of a Georgian household and hear stories connected with the people who lived and worked there.

Look beyond the impressive reception rooms and discover the very different world below stairs. Learn about the servants whose work kept the household operating, from preparing meals and maintaining the house to supporting the daily routines of their employers.

The experience offers a glimpse into the contrasts of Georgian society — from fashionable rooms and social life to the practical spaces and hard work hidden behind the scenes.

Located directly on Bath’s celebrated Royal Crescent, No. 1 Royal Crescent provides an atmospheric way to explore the city’s Georgian heritage while stepping inside an authentic historic setting.
