The 2-day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is a short but challenging hike that provides stunning views of the Andes mountain range, dense forests, and ancient Inca ruins along the route.
IMPORTANT: It is recommended to make the reservation at least 4 months in advance and to contact the supplier immediately upon making the reservation.
DAY 1:
Cusco - Ollantaytambo - Km 104 - Inca Trail - Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes
We will start the day by picking you up at your hotel to take you to the Ollantaytambo train station, where you will board the train. This will take you to km 104 of the railway, the starting point of your 2-day hike along the Inca Trail. Here you will meet your guide and proceed through the Inca Trail checkpoint.
On the first day, we will begin with a 3-hour uphill walk to the Wiñaywayna archaeological complex, where you will have time to explore and receive a guided explanation of the ruins. After lunch, we will continue walking for another 2 hours to the Puerta del Sol of Intipunku, from where you will enjoy a spectacular view of Machu Picchu. Then, we will drive about 45 more minutes until we reach Machu Picchu, where you will have time to take photographs and explore the ancient city.
After visiting Machu Picchu, you will take a 30-minute bus to the nearby town of Aguas Calientes, where you will spend the night in a hotel and enjoy a delicious dinner at one of the local restaurants.
DAY 2:
Machu Picchu - Cusco
The second day will begin early with a visit to Machu Picchu. After breakfast at the hotel, you will begin a 30-minute walk to the Puente Ruinas checkpoint, where you must present your passport and Machu Picchu tickets.
After the control, you will ascend stairs for approximately an hour until you reach the main entrance of Machu Picchu. Here, the documents will be verified again before entering the site. You will begin a 2.5-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu, exploring the Lost City of the Incas. After the guided tour, you'll have free time to explore Machu Picchu on your own before returning to Aguas Calientes to board the train back to Ollantaytambo. From there, the transfer back to Cusco will be completed, arriving at the Main Plaza.
