Comfortable attire and sturdy walking shoes are essential for exploring the ruins and hiking the volcano.
Please bring a valid government-issued ID. The name on your tickets must match the name on your ID or you may be refused entry.
The hike to the Vesuvius crater covers approximately 1 km (0.6 miles) with around 140 m (460 ft) of elevation gain on a moderately steep trail of loose volcanic gravel. It typically takes 20–30 minutes uphill.
Only small bags (30x30x15 cm maximum) are permitted inside the Pompeii ruins.

In rare cases of inclement weather or strikes, the crater of Mt. Vesuvius may be closed to visitors. You will be notified as soon as possible if this occurs.
Tickets for the Vesuvius crater are non-refundable and are tied to your name. We cannot offer a refund should you be unable to attend.
