Your live guide will pick you up at your hotel in Praia, at the airport, or at the cruise terminal to take you to the interior of the island of Santiago.
After a journey of about 30 minutes, you will start your hike from the village of Rui Vaz, located at an altitude of about 700 meters, and enjoy a panoramic view of the São Jorge Valley and Mount Pico d'Antónia, the highest point on the island of Santiago.
After a 1.5-hour walk, you will visit the only botanical garden in the country that preserves certain plants endemic to Cape Verde and discover the origin and history of this place.
Free time to enjoy your picnic in the midst of the mountains and birdsong.
You will then continue your hike in the Ribeirão Galinha Valley, where you will have the opportunity to come into direct contact with the local population and learn about their agricultural practices in the cultivation of sugarcane, mango trees, cassava, bananas, and strawberries.
Discover the Gazela spring, its history, and its importance to the locals, then walk another 35 minutes to reach the starting point.
You will then make a 30-minute return journey, enjoying panoramic views among the volcanic rocks.
The day trip will end with drop-off at your hotel in Praia, the airport, or the cruise ships.
