Discover the essence of Pico Island on an unforgettable day among vineyards, volcanic landscapes, and breathtaking lagoons.
This sightseeing tour takes you to the Wine Museum, located in the former
Carmo Convent, which will serve as an introduction to what you will see
during your journey through the Protected Landscape of Vine Culture on
Pico Island. During the tour, you will get to know the iconic coastal areas:
the coast: Cais do Mourato, Cachorro, Lajido de Santa Luzia, Arcos, and
Cabrito. Here, the marks of this heritage are evident through the
buildings made of basalt stone and the natural pools. As you
passage through Lajido de Santa Luzia, you will visit the interpretation center,
the warehouse, the still, and other similarly classified features.
Next is a visit to the village of São Roque do Pico, passing through the
Reserve of Furnas de Santo António (Special Protection Area), the
the natural pools and the village center.
After lunch at a local restaurant, the afternoon is spent visiting the
Central Plateau of the island, with stops at Lagoa da Rosada, Lagoa do
Paúl, Lagoa Seca, Lagoa do Caiado, and Lagoa do Capitão.
The program ends with a tour of the western side of the Vinha da Ilha do Pico Cultural Landscape,
Vine Culture Landscape of Pico Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
