Monteverde: Night Walk with Optic Gear & Sunset Start

Spot camouflaged frogs, vipers and sloths with your guide's professional optics on a cloud forest night walk. Choose a sunset start to catch the day-to-night transition or a full nocturnal departure.
On this two-hour guided walk through the Monteverde Wildlife Refuge, your naturalist guide carries professional optical gear to reveal wildlife you'd otherwise miss: a red-eyed tree frog tucked under a leaf, a side-striped palm pit viper coiled on a branch, a two-toed sloth high in the canopy.

Pick your departure. The 5:30 PM sunset walk lets you watch the forest switch shifts — diurnal birds settling, nocturnal species stirring. The 8:00 PM walk drops you straight into full nocturnal activity, when frogs call and predators hunt.

Your bilingual guide (English/Spanish) reads the forest closely: branches, leaf litter, humid vegetation, tree hollows. Along the way, learn how nocturnal species locate food, communicate, and adapt to life in the cloud forest. Expect possible sightings of owls, bats, tarantulas, insects, reptiles and amphibians — never guaranteed, always wild.

Each participant receives a flashlight. Groups walk quietly to reduce disturbance and improve sightings.
