Attempt the summit of Chimborazo, Ecuador’s highest mountain, on a private 2-day expedition from Quito with certified guides, High Camp accommodation, meals, permits, and technical equipment.
Climb Chimborazo, Ecuador’s highest mountain and one of the most iconic volcanoes in the Andes, on a private 2-day high-altitude expedition from Quito. This experience is designed for travelers with strong physical fitness, proper acclimatization, and a desire to attempt one of Ecuador’s most unforgettable summits.
Day 1 begins with pickup from your hotel or preferred location in Quito at 9:00 AM. From there, you will travel south through the Ecuadorian Andes toward Riobamba, where you will stop for lunch before continuing to the Chimborazo Wildlife Production Reserve. After arrival, your guide will complete the registration process, organize the technical equipment, and begin the ascent to Chimborazo High Camp, which takes approximately 1.5 hours.
Once at High Camp, you will settle in, review key safety instructions, enjoy the mountain views, have dinner, and prepare your gear for the summit attempt. You will rest early and wake up around 11:30 PM to drink tea, finish dressing, and get ready for the climb.
Day 2 starts around 12:30 AM, depending on weather and mountain conditions. With your certified mountain guide, you will begin the summit attempt, which usually takes around 6 hours. If conditions are favorable, you may reach the summit around sunrise and enjoy breathtaking views of Chimborazo and nearby volcanoes such as Tungurahua, Cotopaxi, El Altar, Sangay, and more.
After a short time at the summit, depending on weather and safety conditions, you will descend to High Camp, have breakfast, pack your equipment, and continue down to the parking area, where private transport will be waiting. The tour ends with your return to Quito and drop-off at your hotel or preferred location.
This is a real high-altitude mountaineering expedition, not a standard hiking tour. Summit success is not guaranteed and depends on weather, mountain conditions, acclimatization, fitness, and guide safety decisions. Safety comes first.
