Montego Bay: Doctor's Cave Beach Day Trip

After pickup from your hotel or cruise port in Ocho Rios, enjoy a scenic drive along the northern coastline of Jamaica to Montego Bay. Arrive at Doctor’s Cave Beach in the morning or afternoon (depending on departure time) and spend around four hours swimming in the Caribbean Sea, lounging on the white sand beach, or taking part in some of the activities on offer.

There’s a reason Doctor’s Cave Beach, known for its healing properties, is the most popular beach in Montego Bay. The crystal-clear water was declared by early 20th-century doctors, who accessed the beach by a cave since destroyed by a hurricane in 1932, to help heal ailments and restore good health. With temperatures ranging year-round from 78 – 84 degrees Fahrenheit (22 – 28 degrees Celsius), the buoyant water is an ideal place for a dip.

If you’re feeling active, choose from a selection of water sports and games (at your own expense) including beach volleyball, a water trampoline, and snorkeling the coral reef that forms part of the Montego Bay Marine Park. If you're just looking to relax, rent a beach chair or lilo (inflatable mattress) to place under the shade of an umbrella on the manicured beach.

When you’re hungry, head to nearby bars and restaurants where you can purchase meals and drinks. Search for souvenirs at the local gift shops or take advantage of the cyber café. You’ll find well-kept changing rooms, showers, and bathrooms onsite to refresh yourself before hopping on return transport to your hotel or cruise port.
