Discover the City of Champions on a 4-day tour of Eldoret. Explore the Rift Valley, visit the Kipchoge Keino Stadium, and enjoy a guided tour of the Iten Viewpoint.
Day 1: Arrival & The Pulse of Eldoret
Arrive at Eldoret International Airport and check into your accommodation at Boma Inn. Take a leisurely drive or walk to the Eldoret Arboretum. Enjoy the peaceful walking paths among a diverse collection of trees and birdlife.
Head to Rupas Mall or the town center for lunch. Try Mama Nitrie's or The Grill Restaurant for a mix of local Kenyan dishes (like nyama choma) and international options.
Visit the Eldoret Museum to get a foundational understanding of the region's Kalenjin culture, history, and athletic heritage. Afterwards, explore the local markets for vibrant fabrics (kitenge), crafts, and fresh produce.
Enjoy dinner at Papa's Grill or The Bistro, both famous for their excellent nyama choma (grilled meat). It's the quintessential Kenyan social dining experience.
Day 2: The Champions' Trail & Natural Serenity
Take a guided tour to Kipchoge Keino Stadium or one of the many high-altitude training camps in the area (like Iten, which is just a 30-minute drive away). You might see world-class athletes in training.
Drive to Iten Town and visit the Iten Viewpoint. The panoramic view of the Rift Valley escarpment is absolutely breathtaking and worth the trip alone. Have lunch in Iten at Kerio View Hotel, which offers stunning, unparalleled views directly into the Kerio Valley.
On your way back to Eldoret, visit Chepkiit Waterfall. It's a beautiful, lesser-known spot where you can take a short, scenic walk and enjoy the cool mist from the falls.
Return to Eldoret. Opt for a more relaxed dinner and accommodation at Boma Inn or try a popular spot like Sizzler's Restaurant for burgers and fries—a favorite among locals and athletes.
Day 3: Farms, Falls & The Source of the White Nile
Drive through the lush, agricultural landscapes to Kitale and onward to Lake Victoria. Visit the Source of the Nile in Kenya at Jinja (Uganda) or the more accessible Rusinga Island or Ndere Island National Park near Kisumu. Here, you can take a boat ride on the lake, see hippos, and learn about the Luo culture.
Enjoy a delicious lunch of freshly caught tilapia or Nile perch at a restaurant by the lake, such as The Sunset Hotel in Kisumu. Drive back to Eldoret, tired but filled with incredible memories. Have a simple dinner and rest.
Day 4: Agri-Tourism & Departure
Visit the Kipkaren Molo Farmers Cheese Factory (or a similar local dairy farm). This is a fantastic agri-tourism experience where you can see how high-quality cheese is made and, of course, sample and buy some to take home.
Enjoy a farewell lunch. You could have a picnic with your freshly bought cheese or return to a favorite spot in town. Do some last-minute souvenir shopping. Look for Kapsabet Mursik (a traditional fermented milk) if you're feeling adventurous, or simply buy some local coffee or tea. Head to the airport or bus park for your departure.
