Discover one of Oaxaca's best-kept secrets with an immersive experience in Santiago Apoala, a destination surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, and landscapes that seem frozen in time.

Your adventure begins at 8:00 a.m. at our meeting point located at Calle Melchor Ocampo 1015 in Oaxaca city, from where you will set off on a scenic journey to the Mixteca region. En route, you will enjoy an approximately 3-hour journey during which the landscape transforms into a breathtaking natural setting.

Upon arrival, you will make your first stop at a natural viewpoint, from which you will be able to take in the stunning views of the Apoala Valley and its mountainous surroundings, kicking off this unique experience.

Afterward, you will set off on a guided hike accompanied by a local guide, who will share information about the history, culture, and natural environment of the community. This tour is ideal for those who enjoy active outdoor pursuits, as it involves hiking along natural trails for several hours.

The tour continues with the first leg to the majestic Peñas Gemelas, rock formations that offer panoramic views of the valley. During this part of the hike, you will also have the opportunity to explore a small natural cave, adding a touch of adventure to the experience.

Afterward, you will enjoy a traditional lunch prepared by the local community, where you can rest and discover the authentic flavors of the region in a warm and genuine atmosphere.

Next, you will continue on the second leg of the hike, where you will discover the Cola de Serpiente (Snake's Tail) and Velo de Novia (Bridal Veil) waterfalls, surrounded by a natural environment teeming with life and water at every turn. The experience culminates at the breathtaking Laguna Encantada, a turquoise body of water nestled between mountains, where you can relax and, conditions permitting, swim in its cool to warm waters, depending on the season.

Finally, you will begin the return journey to the city of Oaxaca, which is estimated to take 3 hours, and will be dropped off near the Zócalo, an ideal location to continue exploring the city.

This experience lasts approximately 11 to 12 hours and is designed for travelers seeking more than just a tour: a genuine connection with the nature, culture, and communities of Oaxaca. For safety reasons, this activity is not offered during the rainy season.
