From Cusco: Exploring Manu National Park for 3 days

The Manu National Park is one of the most biologically diverse places on the planet. It is home to thousands of species of plants, birds, mammals, reptiles, and insects, many of them unique to the Amazon rainforest.

DAY 1: CUSCO – CLOUD FOREST – BAMBU LODGE

The journey to Manu National Park begins early in the morning with departure from Cusco. Along the way, we stop at the Chullpas of Ninamarca and visit the colonial town of Paucartambo. We then enter the park through Acjanaco and descend into the cloud forest, where we observe birds, orchids, and the Andean cock-of-the-rock in its natural habitat. The day ends with our arrival at Bambu Lodge, followed by a local dinner and an informative talk by the guide.

DAY 2: BAMBU LODGE – HUMMINGBIRD GARDEN – COCHA MACHUWASI

After breakfast, we head to Atalaya Port, stopping along the way at the Hummingbird Garden, where we admire these small and colorful birds in flight. We then navigate along the Alto Madre de Dios River, enjoying the rainforest scenery and warm tropical climate, until we reach the lodge.

In the afternoon, we explore Cocha Machuwasi, paddling on a wooden raft and observing birds, insects, and monkeys in their natural environment. At the end of the day, we return to the lodge to rest or take an optional night walk, and spend the night at the lodge.

DAY 3: PARROT CLAY LICK – ATALAYA PORT – CUSCO

The day begins very early with a boat ride to a parrot clay lick, where we witness a colorful natural spectacle as parrots and other small animals gather in the area.

After breakfast, we begin our return journey. We travel by boat to Atalaya Port and then continue by road back to Cusco. Along the way, we take a final walk through the cloud forest, a last opportunity to appreciate the wildlife and landscapes of this unique ecosystem.

The return trip lasts throughout the day, arriving in Cusco in the afternoon, bringing an unforgettable experience in Manu National Park to an end.
