This private, door-to-door tour takes you from the legend of Bran Castle to the restored medieval walls of Feldioara, then into a landscape you won't believe is in Romania: the extinct Racos Volcano, its emerald-green crater lake, and dramatic basalt columns. The day ends at Rupea Fortress, one of the best-preserved citadels on the Brasov-Sighisoara road.
Your driver-guide picks you up directly from your accommodation in Brasov and takes you first to Bran Castle, often called "Dracula's Castle," where you'll explore the rooms, courtyards, and terraces of this 14th-century fortress with panoramic mountain views.
Next stop is Feldioara Fortress (Marienburg), built by the Teutonic Knights in the 13th century and fully restored between 2013 and 2017. Its robust towers and exhibitions tell the story of Saxon and Teutonic settlement in the Barsa Land.
From there, you'll head to the Racos Geological Complex, home to the most recent volcanic activity in Romania. Walk around the extinct volcano crater, admire the turquoise-green Emerald Lake formed in a former quarry, and see the striking basalt columns shaped by cooling lava millions of years ago — a landscape often compared to Iceland or the Giant's Causeway.
The day finishes at Rupea Fortress, a spiral-shaped citadel dating back to the 14th century, with three distinct fortified levels and sweeping views over the Transylvanian countryside.
