Dambulla Cave Temple (approx. 1.5 hours guided visit)
Your first guided stop is the Dambulla Royal Cave Temple - a magnificent complex of five ancient cave shrines carved into a granite outcrop. Inside, your guide leads you through over 150 painted Buddha statues and elaborate murals dating back to the 1st century BC, explaining the symbolism, royal history, and religious significance of each chamber.

Sri Lankan Lunch Stop (approx. 1 hour)
Midway through the day, take a break at a local restaurant to experience authentic Sri Lankan cuisine - a traditional rice and curry spread with fresh coconut sambol and seasonal fruit. Lunch is at your own expense.

Sigiriya Rock Fortress (approx. 2 hours guided climb)
The centrepiece of your day is Sigiriya - a breathtaking 5th-century royal citadel perched atop a 200-metre volcanic rock rising from the jungle. Your guide leads you up the ancient stairways, narrating the story of King Kashyapa's legendary palace as you pass the famous Sigiriya Fresco Gallery and through the Lion Gate to the summit ruins. The panoramic view across the jungle canopy is among the most spectacular in all of South Asia. Your guide sets the pace to suit your comfort throughout the climb.

Itinerary:

Airport pickup from arrivals hall → scenic drive north (approx. 3.5 hrs, refreshments provided)
Guided visit: Dambulla Cave Temple (approx. 1.5 hrs)
Lunch stop at local restaurant (approx. 1 hr)
Guided climb: Sigiriya Rock Fortress (approx. 2 hrs)
Return drive to CMB Airport (approx. 3.5 hrs, arriving ~7:00 PM)
