Descripción
Skate across a frozen Swedish lake along a firelit trail under the winter sky. Enjoy a campfire dinner, warm drinks, and the chance to spot the Northern Lights.
Step onto a frozen lake outside Stockholm for an unforgettable evening of Nordic ice skating under the Scandinavian night sky. This trip is all about catching true winter magic—leaving the city lights behind to venture into a quiet, snow-covered wilderness where you will most likely find yourselves completely alone on the ice. A trail of flickering firelit torches cuts through the darkness, marking a unique skating course across natural ice.
This tour focuses on the serene atmosphere of a Nordic winter night rather than fast speeds or long distances. Here, skating is part of a wider Scandinavian winter evening: moving across natural ice, warming up around the fire, sharing a dinner cooked over the flames, and heading back onto the lake whenever you feel like another lap.
Your evening begins with a comprehensive safety briefing from your expert guide. You will learn about natural ice dynamics, receive your Nordic ice skating equipment, and get a clear overview of the safety gear provided. Your guide leads the first lap around the course, using this time to evaluate the natural ice safety and set the firelit trail for the rest of the evening.
After that initial guided loop, you get far more time to yourself compared to our full-day Nordic skating tours. You do not need to stick together as a group—you can take as many (or as few!) laps as you wish at your own pace. Your guide will always be nearby to offer individual coaching tips, ensure safety, answer questions, or share fascinating stories about local culture and Scandinavian winter traditions.
Whenever you need a break, step off the ice to enjoy the cozy crackle of the campfire. We gather around the open fire for a freshly cooked outdoor dinner paired with warm drinks to keep the cold at bay. With intimate group sizes averaging just 3 to 6 guests (and a maximum of 8 per guide), the setting remains cozy and personal throughout the night.
On clear winter evenings, pause on the dark ice to marvel at the moon and stars above. Occasionally, nature gives us something extra: on clear nights when solar activity aligns, there is a chance to spot the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) dancing over Stockholm. While the lights are a rare natural bonus that can never be guaranteed, the atmosphere beneath the open winter sky is worth heading onto the ice for all on its own.
Note: If you are primarily focused on distance, technique, and chasing long stretches of smooth black ice, we recommend checking out our full-day Guided Stockholm Nordic Ice Skating with Campfire Lunch – Beginners. For the ultimate Nordic experience, combining both tours gives you the best of both worlds!
