Just a river separates Hội An's bustling Ancient Town from Cẩm Kim Island — but cross the old iron bridge and you step into a different world entirely. No tour buses, no lantern shops, just fields, rivers, and families who have practised their crafts for generations.

Your guide picks you up at your hotel and leads you across to Cẩm Kim on e-scooters — quiet, emission-free, and easy to ride. The route winds past green rice paddies and vegetable plots before weaving into the island's villages.

Along the way, you'll stop at working family homes in Kim Bong village: watch a carpenter shape wood using age-old joinery techniques, visit a household that hand-rolls fresh rice noodles every morning, and step into a small distillery where rice wine (rượu gạo) is brewed in clay pots over a wood fire.

At the waterfront, meet fishermen who repair their nets by hand and call on the ancient Whale God shrine — a sacred site for the river fishing community, rarely visited by outsiders.
