Discover the Cotopaxi Volcano and one of Ecuador’s most iconic natural landscapes on a full-day guided tour from Quito. Visit Cotopaxi National Park, explore the high-altitude Limpiopungo Lagoon, and admire the unique Andean páramo ecosystem.
Depart Quito early in the morning and travel south along the Avenue of the Volcanoes to Cotopaxi National Park, one of the most important protected areas in Ecuador. Stop at Limpiopungo Lagoon (3,896 meters above sea level), where you can observe native flora and fauna and enjoy panoramic views of the Cotopaxi Volcano.
Continue to the Mariscal Sucre Interpretation Center to learn about the volcanic activity, the páramo ecosystem, and the origin of local lagoons and water sources. Along the route, pass through rural Andean landscapes and small local communities.
The journey continues through the Toachi River Canyon and surrounding highland scenery before arriving at the Quilotoa Volcano. Enjoy free time at the Quilotoa Lagoon viewpoint and take a short hike along the crater rim, admiring the breathtaking views of the emerald-green crater lake.
After exploring Quilotoa, relax on the return journey back to Quito, arriving in the evening.
