Discover the flavors of Hokkaido on a tour of wineries, distilleries, and a mushroom theme park. Taste local wines, whisky, and gourmet mushroom dishes.
Begin your journey with a visit to a Hokkaido winery, where the cool climate and large day–night temperature swings create wines with balanced sugar and acidity. Enjoy the crisp acidity, fragrant aromatics, and clean, transparent finish of these wines, which pair naturally with lamb (jingisukan), seafood, and pasta.

Next, head to the Niseko Distillery, located at the foot of Mount Annupuri. This craft distillery is known for its elegant, well-balanced Japanese whisky, made with pristine local water. On site, find a bar counter for tastings and bottle purchases, plus a curated selection of Niseko souvenirs and Tsubame-Sanjo craftsmanship (knives, chopsticks, tableware).

Continue to Kinoko Kingdom, a unique destination that’s part “mushroom theme park” and part local gourmet stop. From cultivation to processing and sales, Kinoko Kingdom serves tasty mushroom dishes and offers a wide array of mushroom products. It’s also a popular drive stop on the Otaru–Yoichi route, with plenty of Hokkaido specialties and souvenirs.

Finally, visit the Nikka Whisky Yoichi Distillery, established in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru in pursuit of the ideal place for whisky making. The grounds evoke the brand’s heritage and northern climate.
